Born in Iran, Vahram’s inherent sense of creativity was evident from a young age, displaying a natural gift in drawing, sculpting and building. His professional background encompasses architectural and technical design, manufacturing and mechanics. In 1973, after months of experimenting with oil paints and metal, Vahram wrote by hand, a sentence on a strand of hair for Queen Shahbanu Farah Pahlavi of Iran on the occasion of Mother’s Day. He was honored to receive a thank you letter and medal from the Queen. Iranian Television conducted an interview with Vahram and introduced his artwork to the country. He was invited to display the piece to government and military officials at the Palace and held exhibitions for the Iranian Army, soldiers and police in City Hall. Additional presentations followed at the Iran International Exhibition, The Association of Armenian University Graduates and the Ararat Cultural Association.
In 1974, Vahram was assigned by the late Prime Minister, Amir-Abbas Hoveyda, to work as a technical designer in the engineering and technical supervision department of an organization, during which time he was commissioned to create art pieces on a strand of hair for various dignitaries.
Shortly thereafter, Vahram was commissioned by well-known architect, Papik Tomasian, to write the first Armenian sentence on a strand of hair for the Vank Cathedral in New Julfa, Isfahan, Iran, permanently displayed in early 1975. The sentence was originally written by Mesrop Mashtots, inventor of the Armenian alphabet.
Since leaving Iran in 1985, Vahram has continued to create new art pieces inspired by significant events impacting his life and also challenged himself by exploring with 14k gold three-dimensional art. His passion for creativity is ever-present and fuels his love for life.
